Research
My research centers on two interrelated fields: interactional linguistics and interaction-based language pedagogy.
I explore language within the context of social interaction—examining how speakers collaboratively construct, intersubjectively understand, and mutually respond to their talk and actions in real time. Building on this understanding of social interaction dynamics and speaker competence, I further investigate the application of findings from relevant interactional linguistics studies to language teaching. Both fields of study are empirically grounded and driven by data analysis. My primary focus is on Korean language and linguistics, and I also contribute to cross-East Asian linguistic research projects.
